It's been awhile since I've posted. Pretty much, things are the same. Of note, I was trail running with my daughter on Sunday late afternoon. We could hear that one of the local residents was shooting target practice. That isn't uncommon and it was in the distance. At the end of our run, on the trail from the main gorge back to the trailhead... pop, pop... pop, pop, pop... VERY CLOSE. A few more then we heard two bullets whiz overhead. I shouted at the shooter "Stop shooting! You're firing into a park!" and it stopped. Back at the trailhead, I called the cops.

walkswithblackflies, that is seriously scary! I hope the cops found the shooter, who was violating so many rules! With luck, you scared the poop out of him and he was still trying to scrape out his undies when the cops came.

While my daughter was at horse lessons yesterday evening, I ran the nearby roads. It was pitch dark and a light snow was falling. At one point, I saw what looked like a pickup truck approaching the intersection 1/4 mile ahead. It turned my way, partially blinding me with its highbeams. Then within 2-3 seconds, IT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!!! I jumped to the side of the road as it also turned its upper light bar on. And then I heard a familiar clickity-clack. It wasn't a pickup truck... it was an Amish buggy! And the intersection 1/4 mile away was actually his driveway a couple hundred feet ahead. LOL!

How’s everyone doing? It’s another beautiful morning here in CA—a depressing development, really, as there is still no rain on the horizon. One decent rain so far this fall. Not good. But I’m making good use of the sunshine.

Good morning! Haven't been here in ages. Kind of a depressing gray day here ( autumnmist, you're probably looking at the same view out your window...) I've been trying to motivate myself to think about Christmas shopping. Obviously, right now, I'm procrastinating. Just got the "imminent cancellation" emails for the Death Valley trip planned for January because of the California COVID mandates announced last week. Oh well. On a happier note, I started a new job last week! It's a new and VERY strange experience switching jobs from one work-from-home situation to another. New company is based in Santa Clara and Boston but I'll be working from home permanently. I'm slowly getting used to the idea that I can now live anywhere. An old friend and I had joked last year about starting a commune of sorts; buying a nice tract of land in the PNW and building tiny homes on it. Each "member" would get two tiny homes; one for him/herself and a second for family/guests. We would only have one real building, which would be a big communal pro kitchen -- we're both chefs in past lives. I guess we could actually do this now... Anyway, the job change is a godsend. I'd been grumpy for months. OK, back to the Christmas gift list...

jazzmom, so glad to hear about the new job! And count me in for that PNW commune, if I can have a view. I need some open space around me and lots of light

Good Morning.
I love the idea of a tiny house commune. A couple of my high school friends have tossed around similar plans for years.

Been ages since I've posted on this thread. Guess it's good evening right now.
Feeling worse today than yesterday. I just hope it doesn't gradually get worse over the week. I'd like to go back to work next week. Positive vibes are much appreciated.

foxalo, sending positive vibes to you, wishing you the best, and hopefully no worse symptoms, but rather an improvement over the week.

Congrats on the new job, jazzmom. And healing thoughts to you, foxalo. I think a tiny home commune with you all is a great idea so count me in. Our trailhead register could take place around an actual campfire! I would need 3 tiny homes, though, because my husband needs his own -- his hobbies take up a lot of space. I'm back to work this week after quarantining last week. We had an exposure to our daughter, who was exposed to a covid-positive, asymptomatic friend. I found that I really enjoyed staying home, though. If I've learned anything from this pandemic, it's that I truly am an introvert at heart. It's going to be a beautiful day here today -- stay safe and healthy y'all!

foxalo, I really hope you're on your way to recovery. You have people keeping a close eye on you, right?
