Fat wood is wood from trees or limbs that die but the sap keeps flowing for a while, the wood fibers become saturated and dense. Think bread when you put way to much honey on your sandwich....the wood soaks up the sap and gets rich and thick with the very flammable sap. Shavings of the wood make a great tinder as sap is very flammable and will hold a flame...much like wax in a candle. We sell it in a few varieties from small pieces to proceed down sticks on a lanyard. Check it out here: www.arrowhead-equipment.com/apps/search?q=fat+wood

www.bushcraft-essentials.com/english/tools/be-fire-piston.htmlthis is sorta a joke and sorta not, it has a ferro rod, and is a titanium fire piston with a storage solution for your charcoal or cloth to start in your piston, super easy way to start fire with an ember, and the technology is 1000s of years old, they have actually found a fair amount of bone fire pistons in archeological sites around the world. This is of coarse more bush crafty and ultra lighty but they are a blast lol. I use an MSR ocket rocket stove myself with just two bic wraped in duct tape sometimes I carry some "hairy" looking oily sawdust from the IPE tree (brazilian native tree) that I get from the factory I work in, other wise if you have a knife with serrations on it you can use it to peel "curls" of wood off of any stick even wet, and light that to light alcohol. I've also found fat wood sources to be unreliable, and fat wood itself to be unrelieable as it also like to soak up water, keep in mind I live in an 80K acre section of pine forrest lmao also why I don't use an alcohol stove
