Just signed up to take the WFA w/NOLS & REI later this summer. I am looking forward to this. Anyone taken the 2 day beginner class? Thoughts?

It's on my to-do list. A WFA course is being offered in our council in April. Our troop picks up part of the cost, but I can't take it this time. I just have too much going on.

When I took the wilderness first responder class with the Sierra club, I had a blast!
The guy sitting on the log was the hardest one to figure out. Here I am taking a test and I know something is wrong with this guy. I just knew it. After about 7 minutes, the person grading asked me what is wrong with the fellow. I paused and finally, taking a great leap, told him nothing is wrong. Whew, I got it right.

It's very basic, and very fast-paced due to the amount they want to cover in 2 days. I'd like to take the week-long course someday.
FWIW, my instructor was great.

Mine too. I did finally manage to finagle my way into a CPR course, but that's only the very beginning. I keep forgetting to check for when the REI stores in our area may offer the course. I agree with Reuben that the full week course would be better, but not really a practical option right now.

They are being held in San Mateo into the early summer and space is available.

Ditto. The classes fill up fast, though, and I haven't been able to find one that fits in the schedule. I keep watching them, though.
