Does anyone know if getting a permit to hike Mt St Helens early October would be ok-considering weather conditions? Tips/advice..TIA

I would try cascade climbers as well, and www.oregonhikers.org/ I would say your chances for bad weather are greater in October. But it can be cooler. I usually wait for cooler weather for hiking AROUND St Helens. I know it is considered easier to go in winter when there is snow. I wondered if St Helens might have the same problem as Rainier (going to Camp Muir) in that the parts that have snow year round actually becomes very icy when it melts down.
