Hello! Me and a couple of friends are looking for a good trip for about a week the first week of July. We are thinking possibly the Oregon/Washington area of the PCT or Zion. Any help in deciding and advice would be great! Also open to other suggestions. Thanks so much!

Depending on the snowpack/meltout, early July is usually a bit early to be high in the Cascades. You may have better luck on the east side of the crest, maybe the Pasayten Wilderness or the Wallowas of NE Oregon. Or the lower Olympics or coastal regions as suggested above. Shi Shi is well worth the long drive, though there's not a week's worth of stuff there. Watch the SNOTELs.

Oregon's Timberline trail will be a nice 3 night trip around Mt. Hood. Might be 4 nights if you have to find a way around the big washout. Part of that trip would be on the PCT. Or, you could get on the PCT at Mt Hood and walk to the Columbia River. Another 4 day / 3 night section. I could tell you about it, but sarbar wrote up a nice TR about it and posted it to her blog. link Pictures will tell the story. You would need 2 cars, with the possibility of splitting into 2 groups and exchanging car keys in the middle when you met up. If you decide to do that, make sure any less capable hikers start at Mt Hood. From there, it is mostly downhill. About 5000 ft of drop from Timberline lodge to the river.

Zion would be too hot in July, especially for backpacking, as there is little to no water except in the canyons--and you don't want to be doing slot canyons in July, which is monsoon (thunderstorm) season. I like Zeke's suggestions, or the Pasayten as texasbb suggests. Most of Oregon and the Lassen area of CA are safe. Actually, we've been doing plenty of early-July backpacking in the Sierra in the last couple of years, with very little snow, but we do hope every year that will change.
I can remember one trip I tried to do on as stretch of the PCT in WA in early July. I had to bail at the first opportunity, as the trail was still under several feet of snow and impossible to follow. A lot depends on the snow season.
