Hello!
This is my first thread on this site, and I'm happy to be joining this community. I joined because I had one trip specific question, but am realizing how helpful this will be in the future. My name is Brad, and I'm a 19 year old college student. I'm originally from Iowa, but I go to school on the central coast of California. I have done a few small adventures. The first of which was a three day rim to rim trip in the Grand Canyon with my father. More recently, and to my mother's dismay, I went solo backpacking around Sedona, AZ for five days over thanksgiving break. I currently have an exponentially growing list of places to visit and hikes to complete (many of which ignore issues like time and money). Contrary to my username, I would like to think that my base weight is very reasonable. Feel free to comment below if you have any questions.
Thanks! - mypackweighstoomuch

Welcome to the group. I hope you have many more backpacking adventures and that we can help a little in your preparations.

Hmmm, do you have any leftover ultralight gear you want to give away for free? Otherwise, WELCOME to the forum!

Welcome! Always good to see some younger people getting into backpacking.
BTW, how do you feel about kilts, bacon, beer, brussels sprouts and beets? These are important issues for all backpackers.

Welcome from the Olympic Peninsula!
Central Coast, eh ... anywhere near San Luis Obispo? I lived near there for a year in Los Osos/Moro Bay. Anyway, there are lots of great adventures around there.

Let's see, in order I bet kilts are mighty comfortable, but i haven't tried one myself. Bacon deserves to be it's own food group on the pyramid. Beer is definitely an acquired taste that is growing on me (Mexican beers with lime are my favorite, but my dad loves the darkest beer he can get his hands on). I just cooked brussel sprouts for the first time a while ago and was very impressed, but have yet to try beets. I'll have to cook some up in a kilt to kill two birds with one stone and get back to you all.
