Oof! Hoping for a quick and full recovery, wondermonkey! And thanks for the words of encouragement. He's being awfully pushy and I don't respond well to that.

msdoolittle I find that people who are so much further along in whatever endeavor, who try to get someone else to go along, often are the ones who like to feel like their own accomplishments are significant. I have no idea why a person who runs marathons would want to run / train with someone who is still working on completing a 5K. You know your own limits, and your own mind. Trust that feeling that says, "No, thanks."

Week beginning Saturday,January,28th- 28th-(am)chest/light triceps,traps,neck 29th-(am)1.6 miles cycling, shoulders/arms/traps/light chest,neck 30th-(am)legs/light chest,arms,traps,neck 31st-(am)6.1 mile walk, back/light arms,traps,neck
-Notes- -My walking routes were starting to get stale, so I took my own advice and shook things up with a totally spontaneous route. After three bridge repeats, I headed into town taking side streets, parking lots and various short cuts on a whim creating a new fun route.I even had to backtrack once due to a dead end trying to connect a new route. The temps were in the mid 50s, cold for here. -4 day 4 on cycle w/6.1 miles walking and 1.6 miles cycling.

Last week I participated in my heart rate based cardio class and heavily modified the movements to account for my recent surgery. The exercise helped my range of motion increase even though I didn't do any direct work on the leg. The blood pumping, etc. all had positive influences.
1/30/2017 - This morning I met with a lady who is knowledgeable with where I want to be and has worked with knee rehabs. She assessed my core/imbalances/general numbers, etc. and I assessed her knowledge to help me. All went well. She will give me 3x a week programming and we will meet once a week. I'm always up for help on movements, etc. but I'm not interested in being walked from exercise to exercise to do them. She's not interested in doing that either, which I like.
I've taken an interest in the rower. Not for competition but as a form of cardio. I'm going to be working that in regularly.

on the Crossfit diet for the month fo Feb Paleo? The diet is more of an Atkins type diet to retrain the body to burn fat and ween off sugar.. The last time I did it I dropped eating a lot of sugar, I am looking for a larger reduction of sugar. I am amazed how fast poundage falls off.

My 5k is this coming Sunday. That snuck up on me quickly.
I think I am as ready as I am going to be.
Some days the 5k comes really easy and other days (depending on wind and trail surface) it's tough. Yesterday was a tough one. I always seem to have better runs when I'm on paved surfaces, which I believe the 5k is. Unfortunately for me, I'll be squeezing in a run Tuesday and the rest of the week is up in the air because of work. Hoping for a Thursday run, then I'll be torn on going for a short run Saturday. We'll see how the week shapes up.

You will lose a bunch of moisture from the body if you are doing that. Though I love carbs to death the do cause inflammation, etc. in a great many people.

We do not, on purpose, eat carbs for this diet, even though, my doctor says 'all food has carbs.' With that, we say low carbs. Just meat / non-breaded fish, certain veggies, and a very limited list of fruit.

carbs... do cause inflammation, etc. Most people are aware of the need to reduce vegetable oils and omega 6s to balance omega fatty acids helping control inflammation, but for those not familiar with advanced glycation end-products do an internet search on their role/implication in inflammation, aging and chronic disease, how they form, and how to limit or control them. Very bad stuff...

I happen to agree with this though I don't know one way or the other if all foods contain carbs of a certain amount.

Very bad stuff... I'm not intimate on the knowledge either but I've decided to trust (and verify a bit) certain people. I do my little reading on it and if I can make sense of it then I go with it. The evidence is piling up on a few things so I pay attention to it. You CERTAINLY can't trust the govt recommendations for eating. Though not horrible, it's not the best.

You CERTAINLY can't trust the govt recommendations... I don't rely on my government, doctor, broker or anyone else for nutritional advice.Rather,I do as much reading as possible from a variety of sources and make my own decisions.Everything I read keeps coming back to a balanced diet of minimally processed or altered whole foods in as close to natural form as possible adjusted for my body type and activity level at a particular point in time...

That statement is hard to argue with. Some approaches have some specifics one way or the other but what you said is a great summary.
