Climbing a 12,500 ft. peak 12 days after finishing chemo. Running 4 miles one month after chemo. Making a 30 mile BPing trip 6 weeks post-chemo. Hoping for bigger/better things in 2017! Now that's inspiring!

Good thing you didn't see me gasping my way up the mountain! Walk 20 seconds, bend over, gasp, grit my teeth, walk a few more steps. Pure stubborn-ness got me to the top, and I knew I was on my way back.

Getting out of bed and not dying each day. No fair! That's what I was going to say. Well, I can't take much credit for not dying. But getting out of bed each day...yeah, that's a triumph. Otherwise, no real impressive feats this year. Didn't go a Century, as the one we were training for in early Oct. was cancelled due to the spouse's bike crash. Our backpacking was fun, but not very strenuous this time. Maybe the real triumph was the times when I got off work at 6, walked home, and instead of making dinner, went and worked out and THEN made dinner.

Greatest achievement...in the gym 3x per week consistency after a 2 year hiatus of "being too busy because of work". This enabled me to once again to a <2hr half marathon, and to rock a one week Northville-Placid Trail through hike.

Like foxalo, my greatest achievement is that I'm still here and alive to challenge old age for another year (no intent to be maudlin).

No big feats of strength and endurance for me this year. I'm still doing the small feats like always, and I guess that would be my greatest achievement.

I recovered quickly from my latest knee injury and set quite a few personal weight training bests. I should be too old for that now, but I'll keep going until I can't.

I actually came up a little short of my goal for 2016. I was shooting for 300 hours of combined cycling, running, and hiking. I ended the year at 266. Good effort though. I'll try again this year.
