I found this amusing. I went to my annual doctor appointment with my family physician. Her nurse takes my pulse, says what my pulse is, and I look at my Fitbit. It was spot on.
I'm impressed.

Her nurse takes my pulse, says what my pulse is I just had a physical and the nurse took my pulse, then looked at me like I was an alien. I asked her what it was, and she said "48". I replied, "a bit high today".
On topic: My 5-year-old son saw a Garmin Forerunner and got it for me for an Xmas present. It's GPS-enabled so I use it to track my trail runs/hikes, but it doesn't track daily steps, stairs, etc. Which is great, because I don't care about the latter.

I track my steps to get my arse moving during the day. It might be different if I had a more active job, but sitting at a desk in front of a computer is a good way to gain weight.
