Thanks again, guys. I'm actually looking for a women's pack, but I think that the Deva is a bit heavy for her. The Futura is 1680g, and the Deva is 2600. I couldn't tell whether that back "pocket" on the new Deva is removable, which may cut weight. Regardless, 60L is just too much, although that water pocket looks great. I had a bladder and hated it. It was a pain to clean, and to refill in the hills. With bottles, a couple minutes with my Steripen and I'm good to go. All that said, if I could a Deva in Helena she could try it out. REI carries Gregory, but it's a 100 mile ride. May have to check this: www.mysteryranch.com/rush-ex.

My solution was a 500 mL bottle in a small belt pouch I hang from the front of my harness, waist belt or shoulder strap depending. It's enough of a supply between meaningful stops and I simply refill as needed. it's a lot less weight than a full Nalgene at 2 lbs plus in a less secure position while my main supply is back nice and secure in the purpose designed pockets...
