So, you would kick a certified nurse practitioner off a trip just from preconceived notions? Most women who have hiked with me have been tougher than their male counterparts and if I'm to be completely honest, they have out-hiked and been on more challenging trips than 95% of my male friends. Being that she obviously is in great shape, has some serious medical skills, and wears ultralight clothing, she's welcome to hike with me anytime. So bring the pictured nurse out with you and see how it goes. Just make sure your motivation to do so isn't clouded by the drug of sexual allure. Or maybe it's not the woman herself which is making you guys drool but the erotic thought of both the Army and Switzerland. So forget the nurses, who doesn't get excited about traveling to Switzerland and joining the Army??

I was more excited about hiking with a woman in shape with ultralight clothing. And that's why I like hiking with my wife.

Tallgrass---Man that's a giant tool. I try and do all my gear maintenance BEFORE a trip whereby I won't need any of these tools except a tiny Gerber knife used mostly for food prep. I also carry a small knife sharpener for the Felco hand pruners I carry out to do trailwork while I'm backpacking. Also 3 needles wrapped with dental floss thread and ready to start sewing without having to thread them in the field. And Reuben's nurse? That could be very high maintenance once she's forced to sleep outdoors in a tent and away from her indoor thermostat and other accoutrements of syphilization. Don't get whipped by a pretty face---she has skid marks and sharts and possible gum disease and hacks up undigested food like everyone else. Sober up, boys. Syphilization? How do you know if she has an STD? 🤔😄

This is ridiculous.
Anyway, I always carry a leatherman. Pretty handy, and maybe it weighs "alot", but I'd rather have it if I needed it. The scissors and pliers are worth it to me.

No more ridiculous than the Two Word Thread or discussing Trump or the election or Castro or Amanpour, especially on a Backpacking forum.

No more ridiculous than the Two Word Thread or discussing Trump or the election or Castro or Amanpour, especially on a Backpacking forum. Agreed! Lol

Well, sometimes it's just a ridiculous world and maybe that's alright.

No more ridiculous than the Two Word Thread or discussing Trump or the election or Castro or Amanpour, especially on a Backpacking forum. For billions of people there is more to life than backpacking. In fact, billions never backpack at all. Get over it. You frequently come on here and rail against non-backpacking posts, tents you don't like, pads you don't like, etc. If you don't like it here, just leave.

I was referring to the going on about some stock photo of a "slutty" nurse, and whether she has VD or not. Just seemed silly to me. If all anyone talked about was backpacking on this board, it would be anemic. Take away all the non-backpacking banter. Then take away any repeat questions, because you know "use the search"!.... It'd die pretty quick.

You frequently come on here and rail against non-backpacking posts, tents you don't like, pads you don't like, etc. If you don't like it here, just leave. These billions of non-backpackers have millions of forums to use for chitchat and left-field discussions---but this is a backpacking forum sponsored I suppose by a backpacking magazine and the forum here is called . . . wait for it . . . Backpackers Basecamp. I do rail against ridiculous posts having nothing to do with hiking or the outdoors or backpacking. Why come here to read about Trump or Christiane Amanpour or the neverending Two Words when the same effluvia is available on a billion Facebook pages and chat rooms?? I wonder what would happen if a Trump Forum was full of Backpacking posts? Very odd. And you overly magnify the severity of my recent posts---One about using snoseal on a fabric boot, how I got my trailname, putting a new tip on a hiking pole, and my low opinion of campfires especially now that the Southeast is on fire and there's a 3 state national forest fire ban in effect. Show me a post here where I rail against a certain kind of sleeping pad that didn't deserve my criticism. bpbasecamp.freeforums.net/thread/3637/firebpbasecamp.freeforums.net/thread/4425/waterproofing-hiking-bootsbpbasecamp.freeforums.net/thread/4409/new-hiking-pole-tips-yay

What do backpacker's do in camp? Most sit around and BS til it's time to crawl in. It's a distraction for when you aren't focusing on the trail. I did expect the political discourse to be much more eco/enviro based, but considering the political climate (pun intended) and how every facet of life reflects back on the land, anyone who loves the outdoors should be concerned. Some only use a knife, some want to be more prepared or versatile and bring other tools..... HYOH, figuratively and literally.

A forum also builds community. I find it much more fun to discuss any off-trail topics with people who have one huge commonality with me: loving to hike
