File this under Covers You Wouldn't Expect.
When the trombone player takes off, the song goes to a higher level.

From page 27 or so ... Love the live Pixies videos. They were magic. Found one from the original Pixies line up (+1) first days (late 80s/early 90s) when they weren’t all bald (except Kim Deal, of course). A little rawer sound.. even Kim growls a little at the end.

Pixies posts and no “Monkey Gone to Heaven”? “This will not stand” to quote the late HW Bush (on some other less important topic). Ignore the brief intro and get some fresh Pixies from 1989..
”Monkey Gone to Heaven”

I know this is not the type of music that most folks here primarily listen to, but Ravel composed some of the most gorgeous music you'll ever hear. Like "Placet Futile" from Trois Poemes de Stephane Mallarme. And Dawn Upshaw is a decent singer...
It is widely believed that Ravel may have been asexual, which is very hard to believe, since his music is so unbelievably sexy.

I ran some errands for my 91-year-old Venerable Mom today, including grocery shopping. Wow. Just wow.
Produce - destroyed. Bread - good luck. Meat - devastated. Toilet paper - no way. Paper towels - slim pickins. I just guessed at what she might need, and got extremely lucky. Between what she has and what I bought the only thing she's missing is mini cucumbers. Tomatoes, cookies, Splenda, detergent, olives, tuna fish, juice... all good.
You'd think that the next shipment of food wasn't going to come until August.
People are hitting the Panic Switch.

One of our underappreciated greats. Stormcock is as perfect an album as I know.

She still tours occasionally. You never know what she'll do.
