Sounds like a great hike! I have stayed at Tricorner, but haven't done any of the rest of that route. I'll check it out.

lots of fun hikes to do in the Smokies. it's hard to beat the AT section from Charlie's Bunion to Tri-Corner, but it sounds like you've already done that hike. the Western half of the Smokies AT is pretty great, too. I did Spence Field to Newfound Gap in snow back in February and was all smiles. the hike over Rocky Top and Thunderhead is incredible.
all of the firetowers are worth visiting... Shuckstack, Cammerer, Sterling. Baxter Creek Trail up to Sterling is one of my favorite non-AT hikes and the campsite under the firetower is a fun place to post up. from Shuckstack you have grand views of Fontana Lake and probably all of the western half of the range, not too mention the Cheoah and Unicoi Mtns to the south.
Gregory Bald in the third week of June should definitely be on your to-do list.

Cool pics! Man, that looks cold...
Great suggestions. I will definitely look for some chances to explore more in the Smokies. Thanks!
