Hi! I'm new to the forums. I've lurked for years and got some great ideas from here, but I don't believe I've ever actually posted. My husband is an experienced backpacker, I'm still a novice (I've been on 5 backpacking trips,) and we've now thrown a baby into the mix. We've taken him on one backpacking trip so far (FD Roosevelt State Park in Georgia when he was 6 months old. It was fantastic. I haven't read all the rules of the forums, but I did blog about it. I'll post it if you're interested in reading it and if it doesn't break any forum rules.)
Anyway, work has been crazy and I haven't had much time for adventure lately. Plus, it's been hella hot outside. We live in Florida, so we have to travel to get any kind of elevation. We are planning at least one trip in the near future, so I'm sure you'll see my posts. I am being kind of lazy on planning this go-round, so I'm hoping some more experienced people can give me some tips.
Thanks!

Welcome! You've got more experience than I do. I'm mostly a day hiker that's slowly getting into backpacking. I do enjoy the forum!

Welcome MBG. I'm kind of lazy myself. This is a good forum now that bp2go has regained it. So where do you want to go?
edit: and bp2go is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong, but there are not many rules as long as you stay civil. Good people here.

Huh? How'd that happen? Are you sure you're in the right forum? Well, except for him. He tends to be an ass. But we love him anyway..Come over here big boy.

edit: and bp2go is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong, but there are not many rules as long as you stay civil. Good people here. Not many, no. Keep blatant political discussion over in the TPA forum and be generally civil to folks, that's the gist of it. It's okay to call reuben an ass though, he's good with that. We'come to the place, mamabeargreen! Looking forward to seeing you around more. Hailing from Colorado, - Mike

Welcome....and there is a long-standing butter vs. Pam debate (not much of a debate if you ask me).

Brussels sprouts - yum! One of my favorite veggies Bacon - love it, esp. With Brussel sprouts Beer - is also good with bacon and Brussel sprouts.in general, I enjoy dark beer and German beer Okra - slimy. No. Single malt scotch - good. But prefer bourbon Kilts - wouldn't you chaffe if not wearing undies?? Vegemite behind the ears - ? Not cool enough to answer this one.

Welcome! Good answers, though I know some will disagree with me (the debate over whether brussels sprouts are yummy or the tool of the devil runs long and hot). To be specific, you are welcome to post a link to your blog about the hike. We don't allow commercial linking except in very narrow circs (that is, it's okay to post a link to a piece of gear when you are discussing it or asking about it, but not to your own sales page). Blogs are cool, and you are also welcome to post trip reports directly here in the Storytelling section. Look over the instructions about posting photos--you do have to do it from an internet photo host such as photobucket. ETA: And do jump in to the Hiking with Kids section with comments, questions, etc. It could use some life, as those of us who started it are now hiking with young adults, rather than children
