After using the same orange plastic trowel for 25 years or so I just ordered a $36 titanium trowel from qiwiz. I have officially gone from old-school curmudgeon to patagucci-wearing, cuben-toting, titanium-wielding pseudoultralight poser. Pray for my immortal soul.

Ok trinity-You will soon come to realize that the titanium trowel is the most perfect and valuable piece of backpacking equipment ever conceived in the history of the planet. I am not exaggerating. Ask joe, or better yet, let me know how you feel after your first trip. You will guard that trowel with your very life!

What? I have a folding u-dig-it trowel, it's steel and a little heavy I guess but I've had it for probably 20-25 years and it's pretty much indestructible.

Be careful Johnny, those folding trowels can bite. But I guess if you've had it for 20-25 years you've learned, one way or the other.

I'm deeply sorry - and disappointed - that you have fallen so low. Please don't tell me you have one of those black TNF jackets with the logo on the back right shoulder. It doesn't matter if it's under your patagucci - its light will still shine.
Repent!
This little light of mine I'm gonna let it shine Let it shine, shine, shine

It's tempting. I've been using a snow stake, but its stroke volume is poor.

That is exactly how it happens. First you get a Titanium pooper scooper then before you know it you end up carting one of these : The Electric Marshmallow Toaster You know you want one .

Several years ago I cracked my orange plastic trowel, so moved on to a green plastic trowel, but it weighs 3oz!!! I've been eying the $20 Deuce of Spades, to help me dig quickly in hard, rocky, rooty soil. Will I be disappointed with this 0.6oz trowel because it's aluminum not titanium?!? Does being made from aerospace grade 7075-T6 aluminum let it approach the qiqiz in coolness, or will I be filled with endless regret?
As an aside, I'm really happy with my Rolla Roasters for marshmallows, even though they aren't electric (they are telescoping with a thumbwheel to help with rotating).

Seriously more places are requiring trowels, so it may be worth the investment. I'd like to hold out until an ex-NASA engineer releases theirs, however ("if it was good enuf ..")
