The quality of these photos, and the beauty of the reflections are just beyond description. This is one of my go-to threads when I need a break from my day.

I think I'm wearing this photo out but it's one of my best lake reflection shots. September in the Tetons from the oxbow.

daveb, I don't think anyone could ever wear out the beautiful photos that are posted here. And this one is perfect and timely as Michigan gradually creeps into Fall. There are perhaps one or two trees in my area that are anxious to don their colorful Autumn wardrobes; others are still clinging to their lovely and varying shades of greens. The next month will be an exciting one for seasonal color change. I could even imagine one last dip in the lake before it becomes too cold.

Hunted out a few more reflections, all from Floe Lake in Kootenai NP, Canada. The ink-blot test:

The Photographer at Sunrise (note: not the photographer who took these photos. The other one).

The Canadian Rockies in all their glory.

rebeccad , those truly are masterpieces, especially the first on; it's like an artist's drawing, like a kaleidoscope. The Rockies photo is like a feather laid sideways, with the trees being the individual feathers, the narrow shoreline being the center rachis and the left side resembling the sort of rounded end of the feather. Question for those who have posted: Would you be comfortable with my copying some of these to show my father? At almost 98, his hiking and walking are very limited now. At one time he and a buddy planned to hike the PCT, but health conditions intervened with the buddy before they could develop plans. But Dad just loves beautiful scenery. I give my word that I wouldn't do anything illegal with the copies, such as breaching any IP laws. They would just be used to provide beauty to someone in his "golden" years (although we certainly don't agree that they're that golden any more!)

I'll give permission for you to do that, autumnmist . Others may be more chary of that, as there are some pros on here. And thank you for the compliment

Would you be comfortable with my copying some of these to show my father? Can't you just take a laptop or a pad and show him these pics?

I doubt mine are the ones you'd pick, since they're fairly amateur, but sure.

Can't you just take a laptop or a pad and show him these pics? Oh, yeah, duhhh. Guess my brain isn't working at peak efficiency today. I have a desktop unit and didn't even think of something more portable. I was however thinking of printing some out in a scrapbook so he could look at them when he felt trapped at home, or during the winter. And thanks for the permission; I will let you know just to be up front and honest about what I do.
