They haven't changed. Last summer we had to wrap our car in tarps and chicken wire. Wow.. are they really that bad. I've never camped west of the Mississippi so this thought would have never occurred to me.

Wow.. are they really that bad. I've never camped west of the Mississippi so this thought would have never occurred to me. Park service says so. They were certainly present, and as I've had marmots eat my gear in search of salt, I wouldn't trust them not to eat my car.

we didn't want that extra half/three quarters of a mile. With multiple people, a person could drop off all of the others and the gear, drive back to the RS, and walk empty handed back to the group. Just an option.

That was going to be the plan, complicated some by needing to do a bunch of repacking. Which reminds me. We had everything spread out on tarp and table, including food that needed sorting out, when a bear ambled through the parking lot about 30 feet away. Ulp. Lucky for us it was most interested in getting to the creek and didn't even look our way.
