A long drive, but we really enjoyed the walk to Cape Flattery
Our first trip, we hit the three ecosystems...Hurricane Ridge, Hoh Rain Forest and Rialto Beach, First Beach/La Push and Ruby Beach, plus Marymere Falls.
In 2014 we started in Quinault area...nature trail, big trees, museum. Then stopped at Kalaloch. On to Forks and had to backtrack to Ruby Beach (had a 43 foot motorhome with us ) We did the Rialto and La Push area, then the drive to Neah Bay from Forks. Our next camp was near Lake Crescent and we visited Hurricane Ridge, Crescent Lake and Sutherland Lakes and Sol Duc Falls. (Soleduck on the trailhead sign.)
Wish that we knew that RumiDude was in the area...next time!

We live in Port Angeles and would love to say hi if you have the time. I don't know if we'll make it to Port Angeles, but if you want to meet somewhere we'll likely be concentrating our time on the southwest side of the park. We haven't been to the beach yet this year, though we've seen a lot of mountains and forests, so I'm thinking that's where we'll concentrate our visit.

You do have to do some hiking in the rain forest. Those moss-covered trees are really something.
I'm glad you found a yurt. My childhood memories of Kalaloch involve being very, very wet.

We ended up hiking in the Quinalt area on a rainy day - so had the authentic rain forest experience I was really interested in seeing this area because it holds the biomass record in the PNW and has many champion trees. We also enjoyed driving around the lake, though it was a little bit harrowing because of all the rain. Day 2 it was sunny and we went to Ruby Beach, what a lovely spot! Also saw the Kaloloch and Nolan Creek cedars Day 3 we went to Hoh, on a sunny day. T got another junior ranger badge www.tarol.com/olympic
