The company [Anheuser-Busch, owned by foreign corporation InBev] wants to replace "Budweiser," the name of the beer, with the word "America," the name of our country, for the summer.Budweiser wants to be called America

It's an old trick in the craft brew industry. Name a beer after a location people want to be associated with. You can take a boring blond ale that doesn't sell, give it some creative packaging and name it after the area code of a popular party destination: I drink Bud more often than 805, so I might raise a toast to America.

Not for lack of trying.

Budweiser wants to be called America Sounds like they want to make Budweiser great again — as if it ever were.

I am sort of a beer snob, but oddly still enjoy budweiser. But this is pretty farcical, considering ABinbev is a belgian company.

As a St. Louis native and craft beer snob, I am appalled by AB and their inane marketing tactics.

Samuel Adams - brewer, patriot - would not likely go for this.

I am sort of a beer snob, but oddly still enjoy budweiser. That makes two of us. But it has to be from a bottle.

I'm drinking some Dogfish 60 right now, but I was just thinking that I haven't had a Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout in a dog's age... Sometimes you just name a beer to draw attention. Most times it is not a good thing. Yeah, I've noticed a lot of that. I figure if they have to resort to names like that then the beer probably isn't any goood. Good. <hic!>
