Neat. I loved visiting Lost Maples when I lived in Texas. Very pretty place.
Was the hammock comfortable? I can't make up my mind whether I want to buy one or not. I usually switch back and forth from one side to another and I wouldn't think I could do that in a Hammock. Did you use a sleeping pad under you? Thanks!

I found it quite comfortable. You can switch from one side to the other no problem, the only way to sleep that doesn't work so well in a gathered end hammock is on your stomach. I did not use a pad on this trip, it was warm enough that I did okay without any insulation. I slept in this hammock once on my neoair x-lite, and it was not fun trying to keep the pad in place, and it was not very comfortable. One of the reasons I got the hammock is it is just so easy to deal with, I often use it for car camping, I find it easier to set up than pitching a tent, and more comfortable to sleep in. If you know of anyone who has one you can borrow, give it a try. If not, and you want to take the plunge, do your research (hammockforums.com being the best place to do so), and buy a quality hammock that you can easily resell if you decide hammocking is not for you. I have a Netty from Hammeck, which unfortunately has stopped making hammocks. But you won't go wrong with a Warbonnet Blackbird. If you want to be able to use a pad, get a double layer.
