Collared lizard ... Superstition Mtns, AZ
Big fellow ... about 14" long, but more than half of that was tail.

I'm seeing high numbers of lizards and wasps this summer, here in western Oregon. The normally abundant slugs and snails are scarce. Our weather has been extremely hot and dry. It's amazing how fast some changes occur.

 Sorry about the poor picture quality, but it was taken with my phone at 0330. Common toad does an excellent job understanding camouflage.

Pretty high for a desert critter The "Short Horned Lizard" is a high mountain lizard. There are many types of horned lizards and some don't like deserts at all. Many people get confused by the Desert Horned Lizard, thinking all horned lizards live in the desert. Not true at all. There are many different species of horned lizards and some are only found high in the mountains. -Don- SSF, CA
