Whoa dogie, that's a little weirder than I expected. Okay, Rebecca, this may take a while, but I owe you big time.

That's great! And the story wars begin! (And here I didn't know you could make up a story. Wait a minute. Every hiker/camper/fisherman makes up lies all the time. Scratch that). But I still say...it was a dawg. I heard it bark. I know what I heard.

And here I didn't know you could make up a story. Oh heck, I tell my friends big whoppers just about everyday I run into one. I have a 71-year-old friend who is likewise inclined. And we can spend a good half hour lying to each other. That's made a few people scratch their heads in passing. As far as writing fiction is concerned, I wrote a full-length novel (1000+ page manuscript) 27 years ago and submitted a synopsis (and sometimes sample chapters) to over 40 literary agents, some of whom responded with critiques. That was a decade before I had internet access facilitating self-publishing etc. So yes, sometimes fiction overcomes my better senses when I write and much more often when I talk.

Ah...at 1000+ pages, I can see you can manage extended lies! I like this, too: And we can spend a good half hour lying to each other. Sounds like the way my brothers argue. Make it all up. Much easier to support your point if you invent your facts. It actually bugs me less than it used to, if I look on it as a kind of fiction-writing.

And we can spend a good half hour lying to each other. Sounds like the way my brothers argue. Make it all up. Much easier to support your point if you invent your facts. It actually bugs me less than it used to, if I look on it as a kind of fiction-writing. Anyone hearing the conversation knows it's so far-fetched that we can't be serious. It's all a challenge in spontaneous fiction. And usually we are both engaging in self-deprecating humor, making ourselves look dull-witted in a talent contest of wit. And it all comes complete with pantomime and facial exaggerations. Much of my work involves technical literature from shop manuals to court decisions and law. The fact is that I need a break from that when I don't have to always be overly rational and able to document every statement to each minute fact. So that is how I relax. I engage in far-fetched story telling in a challenge of spontaneous humor.

It's all a challenge in spontaneous fiction. I think that's probably totally in the bardic tradition. I'm not so good at spontaneous oral fiction (is that going to end up in the OOC?). I have to write it out to figure it out.

Ok - those were just fun. Looking forward to the next chapter(s). I never know if there will be more stories in a particular setting, until they start to happen. I do post some kind of short fiction on my blog every Friday, except when I can't manage it and do a bunch of photos instead
