It's interesting to see how UL gear changes subtly over the years. I've been using an older model Circuit myself for several seasons now and it's held up great. The yellow tie-down straps do seem like a nice visual update, while still keeping the overall pack design simple and functional.

As far as I can tell, mostly the yellow straps make it easier to grab the right thing first time. There aren’t that many straps, but I could still get confused :D. Otherwise, just a nice accent.

I learned the hard way on a Presidential traverse that I couldn't effectively carry as much weight as I used to - and I had cut weight a fair bit already. I attribute a lot of that to the way I was working out, using walking as a lower-impact proxy for harder cardio work. shifting more of my time to a recumbent bike and to cycling generally helped a lot. so did wearing a pack with a decent amount of weight for day hikes.
I shifted from closed cell foam pads to inflatable a few years ago and added a cheap inflatable pillow. I still prefer a hammock to either of those, if I anticipate enough tree cover.

I switched my sleeping pad from closed cell to inflatable. Although, I do carry a 3/4 blue closed cell when it's cold, because I sleep on my side and my hip sinks all the way through the inflatable to the ground, which is a cold spot without the foam pad.
Also, I've decided to ditch my Equinox chair. I have lower back trouble, and sitting in that chair makes it worse in my case.

I was just looking around a little to see what might be the lightest hammock with the intent of it being my camp chair. I think others may have posted this before but for me where I hike there are plenty of trees and at just a few ounces is very interesting. When they say in the video you can also use it as a gear sling under your hammock I became more interested.

The only way I would buy that monstrosity is if they threw in the popcorn for free.

The only way I would buy that monstrosity is if they threw in the popcorn for free. You know, I intended that to be "humorous". :^) I'm getting old and lazy. I really don't like being a "hit and run" poster, but most of the stuff I see on here just doesn't seem to require direct attention from me, so, most of the time, I follow the old adage about those who live in glass houses: there's a hell of a lot of "crazy" about lately, and, IMHO, in a lot of places you wouldn't expect. (I'm not talking about you, georgeofthej - it's more of a general observation.) I had a guy come up to me in a local grocery the other day and remark about the tee I was wearing. TBH, I didn't even think about what it said when I put it on - it was just a cotton tee. :^)

Maybe you meant "Helinox"? Yes, I did mean Helinox. I used to carry because it seemed to help my back in camp. Now it messes me up, so good riddance to it, and one pound less to carry.

I think it's funny - I'm now fussing with my pack weight more than before because of age, But age is against me.
As I've said previously, I have a system that has worked for me well for all these years, so it's really difficult for me to bring my weight down where I want it. I just don't get out as often as in t he past, and I really don't hike that far. I kinda envy those of you that have the big mountains available to you. East coast can be very beautiful, but in a different way. I could say all of it looks the same - Hardwood to spruce forests, but I've come to really appreciate the ecosystems here, and focus on that when I go.
I did buy a lighter tent. I'm considering a lighter pack, but I tend to also look at the cost of this stuff and ask myself if I'll really get my 'investment' out of it. Other things have changed - as much as I really like freezer bag cooking, I've decided against eating out of plastic. So I'm cooking on trail more. Cook kit weight went up a bit. I also bought a Helinox chair. that added a pound. Lighter tent, and sleeping pad offset that, but I still carry the same weight as before.
Couple of years ago I posted a thread here asking how much would you spend to save an ounce and got a lot of really good comments about that! It was helpful but in a limited way. For me, I cannot possibly justify owning anything made of these new uber light fabrics. the only Cuben Fiber item I have is a camera bag. I could never justify purchasing a tent made with that or similar materials. Just too much money for what I am limited to do now.
Anyway, Still trying to hack away at the weight, never quiiiiiiiiiiiiite getting there but still hiking around with a big grin on my face!

I carry a lot more Vitamin I (Ibuprofen) these days. Glad it doesn’t weigh much.
