The right eye is doing great. Now it is time for my left eye.

It’ll turn out great as well. Been about a year on mine and I can see so much better.

The right eye is doing great. Now it is time for my left eye. Funny story: When I had mine a couple years ago, I chose to have my distance vision corrected. In the days in between my two surgeries, I had a gig. Reading at music-stand distance is tricky even when your two eyes are a matched set. It was nigh impossible with one eye corrected and one not. I tried every pair of glasses I owned, and eventually just held one eye shut the whole time. I'm not prone to headaches, but I had a killer one that night.

Good luck. I am going in for eye surgery on June 7th. It turns out my right retina has scar tissue and they're going into my eye and scraping it off. The doc says it should get my eye back close to normal. zeke thanks for suggesting in another thread I should pursue this instead just accepting it as aging eyes.

Glad to hear the first eye is doing well, and hope the next procedure is equally successful.

They said it went well. I go back tomorrow for the after-surgery check-up. ErnieW, good luck on that surgery.

I have the same issue happening. I see the specialist every 6 months. She said when it reaches a certain point she will recommend the surgery, until then she wants to watch it closely. It's my right eye that is the issue now, but she said my left eye has the beginning of the same problem. Do let us know how it goes for you. I'm especially interested since I could be going through the same thing in a year or two.

I started noticing it about two years ago. I thought it was a blurry or focus issue. They did some measurements with lasers. In the good eye they were laser straight. In the bad eye the lines were all bumpy. So it is a distortion. If I look at a straight vertical line and move my glaze up and down I can now clearly see the distortion. Peripheral vision is OK. Center is not.
I will definitely report back on how it goes.

I don't have any visual issues yet that are noticeable to me, but I've probably adapted to some change already.

Today, they checked both eyes, said they were doing well. I was given a clear plastic shield yesterday after the surgery that was taped on. Today, they told me to wear the shield at night so I didn't poke it by accident at night. I have noticed my left eye is still a little out of focus, probably because of the swelling around the eye and the eye drops they put in it. It also doesn't adjust to darkness quickly yet. The right one did the same thing but now after 3 weeks, my night vision is as good as it was before the surgery.

I hope your recovery continues well. When it's my turn, I envision getting fitted with a big plastic cone, like a dog.

I ask about it every year at my eye exam. The last time, he said I was four years out. I don't have any visual issues yet that are noticeable to me, but I've probably adapted to some change already. My optometrist found it initially and sent me to a specialist. He thought it might be time for the surgery, but the specialist said she believes we need to wait a bit more since it is not progressing quickly. She wants to wait until the benefit outweighs the risk. My left eye is compensating for the reduced vision in the right eye. It usually only bothers me when I am tired and trying to do close handwork.
