I was on the original BP forum way back when and apparently on here for a bit after the transition (email account was already registered). Anyway, after a few years of non-backpacking, I’m going to get back into it. Starting out next month in the Smoky Mountains. Most likely out of Cosby for a two nighter. Feels good to be getting back at it!

Welcome back!
I'm in North Carolina this week, doing day hikes with the wife and two pooches from a house rental near Lake Toxaway.
Happy Trails!

Welcome back! My wife and I lived in Cookeville, TN while she was getting her Master's in Wildlife Biology many years ago. Our trips to the Smokies were the highlight of our time out there. Have a great trip.

Ooh Rhododendron season! That should be spectacular. The bears and trilliums were both in full display last week out and around Cades Cove. The triplets are always such fun. I got a lot of nice shots when some really tiny ones climbed up a tree. Well two did then mom and the third went up after them. This was along Rich Mountain rd between Cades Cove and Townsend. Reliable for bear families and a lot of different trillium species. .
Have fun!
