I have to wonder what the elevation is (although can't be much) because it looks like Michigan's UP from last week. They (UP) are probably past peak by now though.

Dolly Sods was a little over 4000ft, while North Fork Mountain was in the 3000s. The latter sits in the rain shadow of Dolly Sods though, and thus is typically warmer and drier than similar elevations on the other (west) side of Dolly Sods.

I have never seen anything like this in real life. Certainly not here in the evergreen redwood forest and not in Wyoming where there are evergreens mingled with patches of yellow aspen or other mostly golden hued trees. This is gorgeous and so beautiful.

Well, you should make an October trip to New England, or the Adirondacks or to the mid-Atlantic then! Having said that, I confess I would love to make a fall trip back to the West to see golden larches or aspens in a mountain setting.
