I hope zeke and Roger are already on the road. They're evacuating Ft. McDill, which is as serious as it gets.

They can crash on my couch!
Errr……well……I don’t have a couch. But plenty of floor space if they brought their Thermarests.

It has increased to a Cat 2, 100 mph gusting to 120 and the path doesn’t look good for anywhere in Florida

My daugher and son-in-law live in Tampa. They are now in Alabama, and heading further west. This is not good.

Thanks for thinking of me, BigLoad. The wife is in Chicago until this blows over. Her cat and I are staying put. Concrete block walls, 2 year old roof, 3 year old storm windows. I can eat the food in the freezer first, then hit the 30 day supply of F-D in the closet. I’ll be fine. I can pop back onto this thread until the towers lose juice. ETA: Let me expand on this. The county has 8 Evacuation Zones, and I live in none of them. The County has issued Mandatory evacuation for Zones A,B, and C. I am on high ground (38 ft ASL), and 2 miles from the coast. I don't think I have anything to be overly worried about, but the gas is full in the car should Wednesday turn sour.

zeke, can you do a video like one of those rookie reporters ordered to go outside in a hurricane to show the folks watching TV how horrific the conditions are?

I've been keeping close tabs on this for days. Relative in Leesburg, FL, north of Tampa and 50 miles inland. Otherwise, I keep tabs on hurricanes every year. Hurricanes in Florida just make me glad I'm in Wyoming. A good blizzard is much preferable. Stay safe, zeke .

Take care Zeke. Suppose being in evacuation traffic with a cat is somewhat of a metaphor for riding out a hurricane.

Stay safe, Zeke. Wishing all Floridians safe passage through this storm. Keep us posted on your situation, Zeke. I’m sure the media will let us know the big picture.
I’m with Travis. I’ll take a northern plains/Rockies blizzard any day over a hurricane.

Nothing due here until much later tonight, so all is well. I'll try to check in on this thread from time to time.

. .. Her cat and I are staying put. Well, hopefully. In all seriousness, the concrete should really let you ride out the storm safely. Grew up on a military installation in the Pacific where our ‘50s vintage concrete “cinder-block” homes were sturdy against typhoons.

Projections have shifted for landfall a bit more to the south.
