Unfortunately the Sox just got swept by the Guardians, so my Southsiders really don't have a prayer of making the postseason again this year. Wah Our best player is the same age as our playoff drought

And he's currently having back issues... Carrying the load is hard on a fella's back. And our second best guy broke his finger, when he was on fire.

Until 2016 the Cubs had not won a World Series since 1908, which was before they moved to Wrigley Field in 1914.
For White Sox fans there were some good jokes to be had from that. Remember when the new Yankees Stadium was opened in 2009? For a couple years the joke went:
Q: What do the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs have in common?
A: Neither team has won a World Series in their new ballpark.

As a lifelong Cubs fan I have attended hundreds of games at Wrigley Field. I was really upset when they installed lights in 1988.

When I was a kid in the 1960's we visited my cousins on the south side most Saturdays. They lived on Beverly Ave. just north of the Beverly House, a nightclub where 103rd St intersects with Beverly & Vincennes. My cousins were friends with a parking lot attendant who told them Ernie Banks and his wife would be there. We hung around the parking lot, and I shook Ernie's hand when he was still a player.

For those who missed it, Pujols hit #700 this evening. He usually goes around the bases with a rather stoic look on his face, but this time he couldn't stop smiling. It was in LA, but the Dodger fans were roaring for him, and the Dodger players were clapping for him.

Now that there are no playoff implications, the Red Sox should intentionally walk Judge every at-bat. LOL!
<in full disclosure, I'm a Red Sox fan>

The defensive team's manager can now intentionally walk a batter just by notifying the ump...no more need for the silly ritual of throwing 4 pitches off to the side. According to the Baseball Academy, whatever that is, this rule change has lowered the average time of a MLB game by 35 seconds!

It was in LA, but the Dodger fans were roaring for him, and the Dodger players were clapping for him. There's entirely too much camaraderie and fraternizing in baseball. Baserunners are smiling & laughing with first basemen, etc. I'm a poor lip-reader, but I am certain that they're saying things to each other like "can you believe how much these fans are paying for this?" or "Seinfeld was right - these idiots are just rooting for laundry!"We need more acrimony, more hard sliding, more glaring, more Clemens bat throwing, more Don Zimmer dunking. The M's got into a nasty brawl with the Angels and then won 14 straight - that's more like it! I'm thinking at least one bench-clearing brawl per game, mandatory.

They’ll just do the usual with a hot hitter and throw a lot of junk plus some heaters.
