HSF, There is a "Hike the 4000 Footers of NEw Hampshire" facebook groups with lots of folks with major experience beyond just hiking the 48. Thanks! I have found those focused interest groups useful for other regions like Sequoia Kings Canyon and Yosemite. I’ll check them out.

According to the I heart NY tracker most of the Adirondacks are just pre-peak.

NYT article suggests I may hit Maine at just the right time From what I’ve just seen in northern NH and Vermont I’d agree. Though elevation will still play a part. Friday, East of the Pinkham Notch area (from Evans Notch rd, SR 113 in Maine)

Anyone been to Loyalsock Forest and World's End State Park in Pennsylvania? I'm contemplating a week there Oct 16-23.

Anyone been to Loyalsock Forest and World's End State Park in Pennsylvania? I'm contemplating a week there Oct 16-23. My guess is it should be perfect around that time. Last weekend, I was a bit further west, but at the same latitude and I was anticipating 2wks to prime.

It's a 10+ hour drive for me but the area has some scenic highlights and the the timing looks good for color.
I've never hiked in Pennsylvania, other than the Gettysburg battlefield.

I've never hiked in Pennsylvania, other than the Gettysburg battlefield. Expect rocks. Lots of rocks. And if warm, rattlesnakes in those rocks.

We went from green trees to autumn colors on Friday night. Literally, Friday night.
