You guys are much better humans than me. I will pick up benign garbage... but underwear, TP, and kleenex? That's a big fat NOPE.

But now that I do so much trail crew work, I can't stand to leave that crap (pun intended) for the next group. By the way, the last crew, in the Clavey watershed with the Central Sierra Environmental Resource Center, showed me that OHV campers are far worse than backpackers. Forget TP--we had diapers and open latrines. We filled in one, and took out the other. You guess which.

Forget TP--we had diapers and open latrines. I have always said this about horse camps as well. It really irritates me, because people on horseback or OHVs don’t even have to pack their trash/waste out themselves! They have a horse or vehicle to do that work for them, so what’s their excuse?

I have worked at weekend concert festivals. The clean up takes a day or so even with large crews (they get essentially paid tickets to work. Lots of young energetic kids that have no money). What people leave behind is remarkable. "Ground scores" are all over. After a weekend of partying some people just don't feel like dealing with their tents, tarps, chairs, etc. I suspect that the ease of packing in alcohol and the resultant hangovers may have something to do with this discarded garbage by the OHV's.
