Calling all Colorado folks, or folks that might be in the area...
Looks like I'm going to be doing a solo trip of about 5 days, starting about August 7, in the Williams Range area of the Hunter-Fryingpan Wilderness.
The crux of what I have in mind is the off-trail route marked in red on the map: caltopo.com/m/KS6D5 . This should be a mostly class 1-2 route with some possible class 3 moments, per my research. The routefinding appears to be pretty straightforward as best as I can determine. Some of it appears to be on abandoned trails that still appear on some maps. The rest of the trip would link up via maintained trails to the Lost Man and/or Independence Lake Trailheads
I'm happy to go solo, but would also be happy to have a partner for some or all of the trip. The exact dates and route are somewhat flexible.
I'll also be car camping for at least 2-3 days ahead of that hike, acclimating to the elevation and doing some warm-up dayhikes. I'd be happy to meet up for those dayhikes...they could be almost anywhere in the area, but the most convenient locations would be not too far off the path from Denver and the eventual destination of the Williams Range (which is about half way between Twin Lakes and Aspen).
So, dayhike days, could be lots of different locations, approx August 3-6.
BP Williams Range tour approx August 7-11.
I'm also game to just meet up for beers along the way if anyone is interested in that.

I've hiked in that general area, but can't this time due to beginning band lessons on those days.

Monsoon season has a pretty strong flow going right now and Colorado is getting its share right now so caution is highly recommended if you are going to backpack or hike anywhere in the flow zone.

I've hiked in that general area, but can't this time due to beginning band lessons on those days. Too bad—you could have taken some pleasure in kicking my butt. Last time I was coming off a month at altitude and hiking every day
