120 to 6 into Nevada?
It is a nice drive past Mono Lake and Benton Hot Springs. Connects to Hwy 6 at Benton.

Sure, a couple of times. Biggest tip I can give is top off your fuel every chance you get. There are some really huge stretches out that way that are REALLY empty. Car satellite navigation will work: cell phone based is a lot iffier as towers can get sparse away from the interstates.
Keep a camera ready for the pronghorns!
To where?

Ooh. Great Basin has a ton of great stuff! Ancient Bristlecones for one. Also an interesting cavern system. When I was through there, as a heads up, they were quite concerned about keeping White Nose disease out of the caverns by asking that anything that had potentially been exposed to White Nose in another cave system not be taken or worn into the caves. “White-Nose syndrome screening is mandatory. Do not wear clothes or shoes that have entered another cave into Lehman caves for the health of our bats.” That included things like watches or cameras. Then you’ll be passing through Tonopah. It’s got an interesting )to me, lol) old WWII airport with some big old wooden hangers I like to photograph. There’s also this odd solar power project using a circle of mirrors focused on a tower that used some sort of molten salt tech.
it took some digging to figure out was this was after seeing it off in the distance. Striking and unusual sight. www.8newsnow.com/news/local-news/solar-plant-near-tonopah-producing-power-for-nv-energy-after-stop-during-bankruptcy/

Also Great Basin’s high elevation can be a surprise: I got snowed out if the higher campground the first week in September the year I was through (2017).
