After two years, I was able to order two pairs of Billy Goat shorts (actually, Billy Goat II Shorts, by Royal Robbins) . I’ve always really liked these shorts for day hiking. Definitely not man capris—-more on the short-shorts side. Newer materials now, too. Suppose to be more eco-friendly. Glad to see they’re back in stock. Anyone else here use or like them? And as a bonus, I found two pairs of Billy Goats I had stockpiled and put away but forgot about in a bureau a few years back. So with 4 pairs I should be set for hiking season. My old ones are really worn out and threadbare. www.royalrobbins.com/us/en-us/men/bottoms/shorts/billy-goat-ii-shortHappy Trails, DR

I prefer to keep my phone in a zippered cargo pocket, so these are my go to short. Your choice of an 8 or 10 inch inseam.

His originals and some original Chouinard standup shorts are my goto when Baggies aren’t enough.
A strong fourth are Railrider Versatac ultralight shorts when I need cargo capacity instead of maximum leg freedom

These were just about the only shorts I wore around the house until they stopped making them. The most recent pair I bought had changed a bit, and they were no longer comfortable, to me. I'm looking forward to trying out this new iteration.

I'm looking forward to trying out this new iteration. I’ve been wearing my new Billy Goat II shorts and really like them. Perfect fit right out of the box. The new material is made with beech tree cellulose. There is a unique feel to the shorts out of the package, but it went away after I washed them. I’m guessing it’s the modal fabric (beech tree cellulose). I like the new added pocket, too. So glad to get a good fit because with so many outdoor clothing companies it’s a crap shoot ordering the right size online. Royal Robbins always seem to work well for me in terms of sizing. Regards, DR

They look nice. how long do they take to dry after it rains, or a stream crossing?
i lean toward patagonia quandaray or nine trails shorts because they dry fast, in addition to being comfortable and durable enough. i like stand up shorts because they're so unlikely to get shredded, but they take a long time to dry & aren't fun to wear when wet.

They dry faster than the Stand Up shorts Patagonia makes. Stand Ups never last long for me. Have you tried Men's Hydropeak Hybrid Walk Shorts, by Patagonia. Pretty nice. Or their Men”s Strider Pro running shorts? www.patagonia.com/product/mens-strider-pro-running-shorts-5-inch/24633.html?dwvar_24633_color=SMDB&cgid=mens-shortsRegards, DR
