I'm near the same age as this guy. Though I don't worry about or ponder having a heart attack, it's in the back of my mind. When I was doing the AzTrail with Larry, I would tell him at the beginning of the section what to do if I start having issues. Nothing ever happened, fortunately. But, heart disease and strokes run in my family on both sides. The guy in the video is articulate and tells his story well. He's is a retired preacher. He seems to be back to backpacking. The heart attack happened 9 months ago. He thought it was heat exhaustion at first.

As I age, I try to keep several possible maladies in mind. Hiking companions get told what I expect from them, as you were once before.

A few years ago a friend suggested i add baby aspirin to my FAK. It’s not much but something if someone is having chest pain.

My neighbor had a heart attack last year, passing away on a relatively easy trail. (She was still actively rock and mountain climbing, plus a back and front country skier. It was a shock. She was 69.

Been thinking about a satellite communicator, probably an inReach mini, as to call for help .. or at least direct the search to the most likely orbit of buzzards.
Worth noting in the Gila, a very fit middle age ultra runner was found dead due to an enlarged heart via training. One can be visually “fit” and still be in danger. Time for some preventive guacamole, tacos, and beer training…
