I bought a $35 rambler water bottle from YETI and it sucks. Doesn’t keep liquid cool and if you turn it over it leaks. What a POS. I’ve bought bottles less than $10 bucks that work way better.
I’m thinking their $600 coolers are probably crap too?

I’ve got a Yeti coffee mug I received for Christmas. I’ve got to say, it’s pretty amazing at keeping liquids hot. I fill it in the morning, drive for an hour to the ski hill, leave it in the unheated car for six hours and when I come back, the coffee’s is still sort of warm. Not hot, but at least, not cold either.

Have one of the smaller coolers. It's great. Must be you. :-)

I guess I just don't have a need at this point for such a product because when I walk down an isle where their products are shelved and I look at the prices, I say... yeah right.

The only way a cooler is worth that price is if you had some perishables you had to leave in your car several days (assuming the Yeti performs much better than cheaper coolers).

My fridge quit and I needed to bridge some time. I checked the reviews and it got the best regarding time, so I bought it. It did not disappoint, in fact the ice hardly melted at all per day. I was surprised. Looks too $$$ to leave exposed in the back of a car, though. Yes, it was expensive, yes, it looks cool. Yes, they advertise. So? Tell me about your $700 tents.

I have a couple of Yeti mugs (gifts) like Jer and similar experience, keeps hot or cold for hours.

We’ll maybe it’s just me. I got the one that was run over by a forklift in the warehouse in China.

Overpriced? Yes. Suck? No. I would neever buy one for myself, but I have a small Yeti cooler my wife gave me for a birthday present many years ago. She bought it primarily for me to use on multi-day canoe camping trips. For that purpose, and short car-camping trips, it works great. I've gone on backpacking trips up to 5 days and returned to my car at the trailhead, beer still packed in ice.

Mostly you, I think. I think science says that all of those double-walled vacuum sealed drink bottles all perform about the same at keeping liquids warm/cold. You can use them more effectively by pre-heating/cooling and filling up the volume. I've admittedly upgraded my coolers in the last few years to the newer 'boutique' ones and have the Yeti backpack-like one that I got as a gift. It's a nice complement to the hard-sided RTIC one I'd gotten (after much hemming and hawing) but I was totally floored when I saw the price in a store... literally twice as much as the RTIC. The Yeti's don't suck but I do think they're grossly over-priced. I guess their colors are cool...

I considered Yeti at one point, but all that insulation comes with a size issue, or did at that time—just too bulky for the space inside. I guess I could afford the space now, but I have my packing system dialed in so no motive to change.

literally twice as much as the RTIC It looks like Yeti has beat them in the marketing arena. I had never heard of RTIC until I just looked them up. Do some "outdoor" stores carry this brand?

The company gave me a Yeti mug, which I ended up liking quite a bit. I'm quite happy with how long it keeps things warm. As jazzmom noted, a minute or two of pre-fill with boiling water extends the duration quite a bit.

Once or twice a year, I leave a cooler in a car (in the summer) while I'm gone backpacking for a week. It's not an urgent thing, but if I've been car-camping before the BPing (which is typical for me), it's nice to be able to save some of the food, and a REALLY nice luxury to crack open a cold (or at least cold-ish) beer on returning to the car.
But I'm fairly cheap, so there's no way I'm going to pay what a large Yeti cooler costs for that one or two times a year. I use a regular cooler, try to fill it as full as possible with ice+food/beer, wrap a blanket around it, and hope for the best.

literally twice as much as the RTIC I came close to buying an RTIC a couple years ago, but I've never really had a need for a high performing cooler. I wonder if a Yeti or RTIC would outperform a double cooler in which a smaller cooler is placed entirely inside a larger cooler, with added insulation if there are interior gaps between the two.
