My iPhone calendar does rule. But I still markup an Ansel Adams wall calendar that lives over my kitchen sink for big picture clarity while, I admit, mainly using the Sierra Club wilderness and appointment calendars for pretty.

My wife still uses a paper calendar, which she then lugs into my office to confer on what we can do when. While I consult my phone.

I don't (apart from looking at the pictures), but Mrs. big_load does.
My Outlook calendar is as crucial to my life as the reply button.

I’m with HSF—I use a paper calendar for big picture stuff, and for scheduling my blog posts. Sometimes the limitations of a screen just don’t work for me. But I totally use my google calendar for the daily schedules.

It occurs to me these are quite a bit like my iPhone or Garmin maps versus my topo map sheets. Similarly complimentary in their functionality, tight focus versus wide angle.
Even down to the paper calendar, like a topo sheet: completely silent on that where the hell am I aspect. Whereas the iPhone calendar has that handy location indicator, the gps of time. 😎

I haven't used a paper calendar for quite a while. I have Google calendars. My wife is more of a paper calendar person but shared digital calendars make it easier of us to stay in sync with ours and our kids schedules so she is a somewhat reluctant convert.
With growing grade school kids having paper calendars around is good for learning about how to read/use calendars.

I use them both. Always pick up a Wilderness Society and Sierra Club one for the bulletin boards in our home.

I think part of my hesitancy to fully commit electronically is I’m rather focused on my iPhone rather than my laptop or iPads so the month wide display is a little too opaque (simply has a dot under dates where there’s something). That lack of detail in the wider view just isn’t that functional for me when laying out plans.

I use them both. Always pick up a Wilderness Society and Sierra Club one for the bulletin boards in our home. Have you ever wound up skipping a month because you really liked the photo? I long ago got comfortable with them being a sequential selection of landscape posters more than anything else.

Not exactly. I can see how it’d happen though.

My life is pretty uncomplicated. I use a paper calendar to record road trips, backpacking days, music events, birthdays and dates. I don't have a day-to-day accounting. I have calendars going back to 1980 in a box. Which calendar I choose is usually dictated by what's available. They're always an outdoor scene with mountains, forests or deserts. No beaches.

Got the big-picture/little-picture thing, but didn’t think about that “where am I?” I mostly use my phone for that, but not the calendar—just wake it up and look at the day/date.

Nothing beats a quick glance at the wall to see what's on the schedule.

Nothing beats a quick glance at the wall to see what's on the schedule. And… nothing beats being able to check your schedule while standing at the physical therapist’s and trying to schedule the next visit. So… yeah, I like and use both.

Technologically, couldn't you have a home cam focused on the wall calendar (always illuminated by a nightlight) and an app on your phone to see the home cam? (@absurdity)
