I live in the Hamilton Pool area. Nice area, I always forget that technically that's Dripping Springs. I drive down Hamilton Pool Road every time I go into Austin. which are great except for the lack of water! That, and the fact that my backpacking partner isn't allowed in the back country there!

which are great except for the lack of water! Lack of water is the main thing that keeps me car-camping in desert areas. Love the desert and desert mountains, but carrying water is very limiting.

Great photos and brevity of wordsmithing make for an excellent report. Thank you.

Nice TR, Trinity. I'm surprised that more Texans and others don't take advantage of this underutilized trail. It's a 7.5 hr drive for me SE of Houston. But on the other hand, you said it, the solitude is a big plus. One would think that with the new AT-style shelters, more hikers would be attracted to it. BTW, there are three more shelters to be built to complete the project, spaced on average 10 miles apart. Did you find water resupply difficult?

Did you find water resupply difficult? No problem, even thought this has evidently been a rather dry winter. At the suggestion of the shuttle driver I cached some water at Winding Stair, but I could easily have done without. Would be more of an issue in the summer, but there are plenty of access points where water could be cached.

Any signs of the Kaimichi Bigfoot? Nope. I think Floyd scared him away. Missed this TR the first time around. Thanks for bumping it. Have you made it out onto this trail? It's in your backyard now, isn't it?

Have you made it out onto this trail? It's in your backyard now, isn't it? Yes it is. Now in Little Rock. I may get out there sometime in March.

I may get out there sometime in March. I bet that would be a perfect time of year.
