hi y'all,
I am planning to visit the superstition wilderness area in a few days. this will be my first backpacking trip in AZ. I've done a decent bit of hiking in the Sedona and Flagstaff areas over the last couple months but I understand that this terrain is different. I've been told that the Charlebois and Labarge springs will be most reliable for water right now, so I'm planning for that.
I'm looking for suggestions for routes for either one or two nights as well as specific areas that are good to set up camp. I'm comfortable doing +/- 6 miles per day. I was thinking of starting from the Peralta trailhead, and making some kind of loop around Weaver's needle and Black Top Mesa, maybe ending it with coming back by Miner's Needle.
thanks in advance!

Because of the fires, options aren't as good as they used to be. I agree on Charlebois and LaBarge. The classic hike with those is a loop that starts at the Peralta TH. There's a good description here (HAZ).

el Really the only real trail I've hiked in the Superstitions is the Roger's Trough to Reavis Ranch. It's an in and out trail about 7.5 miles one way. There is water and many informal campsites at Reavis Ranch. If you're adventurous you can look for The Lost Dutchman gold mine that is supposedly in the area. You can also go to Circle Stone which is an old native medicine wheel formation. Roger's Trough to Reavis Ranch is also part of the Arizona Trail, Passage 19. Check to make sure the way to Roger's Trough is open. I've heard that rains may have washed out the upper road to the Trough. Good luck. (If you haven't left yet, that is.)

(If you haven't left yet, that is.) from some brief research, it looks like Reavis Ranch is hard to access right now and takes some off-trail scrambling due to the road closures. I'll tuck it away for another time though! sounds like a really neat spot. haven't quite left yet! :)
