As of this Spring, Angels Landing access will be by permit only. Probably years later than it was the best plan, but at least going forward there will be some semblance of number limits. Drawings start on Jan. 3rd Angels Landing Permit Process |

Unfortunately, this makes a lot of sense. We visited a few years ago in what used to be a dead season, but it was pure insanity. Most other hikes in the park were uncrowded or even isolated. Angel's Landing was like Times Square on New Year's Eve. As I probably mentioned here previously (although it might have been HAZ), we didn't get to the top because somebody had a panic attack and held up the line for ages. I had no regrets about turning back, although many others on the chains were perturbed.

I agree with the above posts. Unfortunate but probably necessary. The last time I hiked Angel’s Landing, it was absolutely insane as well as very dangerous because of the crowds.
