I'm up in age and tired of the ground. I know nothing about hammocks. I'm 5 ft 9, at 150 lbs, and I'm a side sleeper for the most part. I prefer the single hammock to save weight, but might need the double in order to sleep as I do, I went to the hammock forum for a while and got myself more confused then I already was.

Singles work best with Underquilts, while doubles can easily handle a sleeping pad. If you already own a pad, I'd go with a double. Even a closed cell blue pad will work fine. Might need 2 pads, so you can cut one up to place under any parts that are off the first pad. My shoulders and elbows, for example.
