Okay, I can see a trip coming up. BigLoad , desert dweller , I’ll meet you on the North Rim September 25th… 😄 Yeah, we have go while it's still roasting hot. I wonder how well the closure date correlates with significant, lasting snowfall. My rough guess is that the latter is usually a month or more after closure.

I used to want to ski in. I actually like the South Rim, because the view of the N. rim being more jagged is much more interesting, while views from the N rim tot he south's flat rim are not as much, and from just a few vantage points is less IMHO, but it is worth going, the lodge there is nice too, I think I made it to Cottonwood? that was a long time ago. The south rim is crowded, but can get up early, or hike along the rim and see less people, still allot more. Many hang out in their room with TV.

Certainly it was hot that time last year, but I think it’s pretty variable. They have to close ahead of the usual time of snowfall or they’ll get people stuck out there. And even as hot as last season was, an early start made it okay.

I'd be happy to help in any way. Logistics, shuttle driver, top side assistance.
