I picked up one of these at REI’s online outlet; it marked down just shy of 1/3 off. I live in a place that has a moderate climate, but due to it being rainy and damp, I get chilled easily while hiking. Fortunately, for me, fleece keeps me warm while hiking in the rainy season (and it breathes and dries well, too). The shirt jacket has grid fleece on the outside and sherpa fleece on the inside. I was very pleased to see it was true to size. Really like the fit in the chest; the sleeves are not super long, either. Nice it has hand pockets for cold ‘n rainy days, as well as two chest pockets. The shirt jacket will also earn you 10% on your REI dividend. No visual defects on the product; it looks good in quality control. Nice looking shirt jacket, too. If you’re looking for a fleece shirt jacket, it should work for you. www.rei.com/rei-garage/product/192571/royal-robbins-connection-grid-shirt-jacket-mens?cm_mmc=email_tran-_-trans_ship_confirm-_-210211-_-img_prod1&ev36=&rmid=trans_ship_confirm&rrid=308446515&ev11=&redirect-pup=falseRegards, DR

I have found RR’s clothing to be just what I want in terms of styling, but, unfortunately, the pieces I’ve owned have just never been durable for me.
I gave up on the brand a few years ago. I hope you have better luck than I did.

I've seen that brand a few times in discount stores like tjmax or marshalls. I didn't even know it was a brand that could demand that kind of price tag as I had never heard of them before. I really wasn't impressed.

I have several pieces of RR clothing items - pants, shorts, a shirt - that I quite like. They’ve stood up to some rugged use for many years. Fact is, they are one of my favorite brands but they don’t seem to be widely available.

I've seen that brand a few times in discount stores like tjmax or marshalls. I didn't even know it was a brand that could demand that kind of price tag as I had never heard of them before. I really wasn't impressed. Royal Robbins has been around since 1968; it was founded by big wall climber Royal and his wife. Initially geared towards climbers, it eventually became associated with travel clothing. It has been sold a couple of times; the last time a few years back. They also use to own 5.11; it was their military, fire, EMS, police line of clothing/gear. Like a lot of outdoor companies, it’s changed over the years. Some good stuff, some not. Reminds me of a smaller version of Patagonia and North Face (but only clothing related). It will be interesting to see where it goes with its new owner (Fenix Outdoor). They own Fjällräven and several other companies. I like Royal Robbins. For whatever reason their stuff just fits me better than other brands. Have a few items that I've owned for a long time and its held up well. They are definitely more of a lifestyle brand, in my opinion.
I do remember at one point in the mid-2000s they decided to pivot to being a brand management business. I remember we had a sales rep that came to the store i worked at and they were employed by RR, but represented about 5-6 brands total. I guess the acquisitions DR mentioned above explains that.

Glad I picked up two of these because RR quit making them…
