She and her boyfriend, both 22, embarked on a cross country van trip in August. The boyfriend returned home alone to Florida on September 1. She was reported missing on September 11. Now the police cannot find her boyfriend.
Nope. Not fishy at all.

One working theory is that the two were last together in Teton National Park in her van. So the girlfriend doesn't return to her van and the boyfriend takes the van without her 2000 miles back to Florida, doesn't report her missing, doesn't leave her van for her to return to, but simply leaves and refuses to explain anything to her relatives or searchers.
His excuse for silence is that he knows investigators will consider him a prime suspect. So if a suspect, he might as well act suspicious. The boyfriend is hiding. Wonder why.

I hate these types of stories. She almost certainly is dead (duh). Her parents must be devastated. And this guy just puts his head in the sand. Sheesh.

She almost certainly is dead (duh). It's been widely reported that the two were involved in a "domestic altercation" in Moab, Utah around August 12th. Now NBC is reporting that Police pulled over the van with the boyfriend driving 45 mph in a 15 mph zone. He admitted that sometime that day he had withheld the keys from the girlfriend and attempted to lock her outside her own van and possibly drive off without her. She was able to get back into the van and sometime later in trying to get her keys from him had slapped him. His excuse was that he was trying to get her to calm down. If he used that excuse later and ended up driving 2000 miles back home, I would think that would amount to grand larceny and whatever happened to her in the meantime is anyone's guess. It's kind of a soap opera and kind of a mystery thriller.

If Gabby were a Native American from any Res, or a black woman from any number of nameless cities, this story wouldn’t have made it past the back pages of a local paper. The fact she’s white, good looking, and #vanlifing changes the narrative and sells drugs (advertising) for the various media.
The outcome will probably, and very sadly, be bad… but yeah - racism is alive and well in the USA. And this is one more unneeded proof.

Teton County, WY SAR had a pontoon boat and side by side 4 wheeler at the pond up Toppings Lake Road yesterday afternoon and friend said they were also looking around Spread Creek area, guessing Lilly and Leidy Lakes, maybe Hidden Lake.
From what the guy apparently told the girl he hitchhiked a ride from they were "camped in the middle of nowhere on the Snake River." That sounds like Grassy Lake Road to me but knowing he could have been mistaken they'll be searching Pacific Creek, etc.

Camped in the middle of nowhere on the Snake River, if memory serves me correctly she could have just been carried of by the mosquitoes there. Ok, no. I know it isn’t really funny. She is probably dead and he has probably run for it, with his parents giving him a couple days head start. It seems to be everywhere I look online, and bradmacmt is right, if the missing girl were not young, beautiful and white, there wouldn’t be this kind of media attention. Not that she doesn’t deserve the attention, but that every missing person should be important to law and media too.

Now they are saying it is her or at least looking like her but not DNA confirmation yet. And part of the press conference mentioned “body parts”

One thing that I'm not clear on is whether it's been confirmed that the boyfriend did come home on Sept 1, or was it just his parents saying he was home but would not talk to police/media? And they now say he's disappeared... again, confirmed?

"Laundrie, meanwhile, avoided authorities after returning home to Florida and has now gone missing. Police visited the Laundrie family home after Petito was reported missing, but Laundrie's family refused to talk and instead gave authorities their attorney's information, police said last week. Their home was searched Friday evening after Laundrie's family told police they had not seen him for days. He left home with his backpack Tuesday and told them he was going to a local nature reserve, Taylor, the police spokesperson, said Saturday." edition.cnn.com/2021/09/20/us/gabby-petito-brian-laundrie-update/index.html

Their home was searched Friday evening after Laundrie's family told police they had not seen him for days. Whether he's alive or not, his parents and lawyer ought to be held responsible for abetting his apparent escape from justice. If Gabby were a Native American from any Res, or a black woman from any number of nameless cities, this story wouldn’t have made it past the back pages of a local paper. This is sad but so very true. It's worth emphasizing how the public reaction to events like this rubs salt in the wound of the victims' families and friends, and to those communities as a whole. These incidents are repeated reminders of their status as second-class citizens.
