I had a permit for the North Lake / South Lake loop that was refunded to us a couple of weeks ago due to fires. So I pulled a permit for the Mineral King loop in Sequoia. I was just notified via email that theat permit was pulled from us too. So, any last minute backpacking trips 6 hours or less from San Fran that you'd recommend looking into?

Kerrick-Matterhorn loop out of the north section of Yosemite? Out of Twin lakes, but this might be closed also? 47 miles, most do it clockwise. I chose CCW, and wasn't disappointed. CalTopo Maprebeccad Do you have any suggestions? She's relatively local.

I think you’ll have to go north. All the national forests in CA are closed I think through the 16th? The only exception, as I understood it, is the far NW corner. Maybe Pt. Reyes, but I wouldn’t even count on that.

Yosemite is open, but I’m not sure about the backcountry. You could call.
Basically, CA is not a good place to backpack right now.

The Inyo National Forest is open again now. (Too late?)
Toiyabe (Hoover wilderness)has remained open...
It is smoky again...now from the KNP fire.
