I probably should have posted this earlier. Did anyone watch? I was amazed by some of the athletes, and I really enjoyed some of the different sports.
I still have no idea how the blind soccer players stay orientated. I didn't see a single instance of one kicking the ball or running in the wrong direction.
Prosthetics have come a LONG way in the past couple of decades. Unfortunately, likely fueled by the injuries from Afghanistan/Iraq IEDs.

I watched some and was blown away -- swimmers with no arms, cyclists with one leg, etc. As for blind soccer players, I suspected something like this and found that in fact this is the case: - The ball makes a noise due to a sound system located inside that helps players orient themselves.
- Spectators must remain silent while watching the game until a goal is scored.
- Teams can also have off-field guides to assist the players.

[li]Teams can also have off-field guides to assist the players. [/li][/quote] I saw that each team had someone behind the net they were shooting on. I assume he'd yell to let them know where the goal was. Mid-field though? I didn't see how they orientated. I'm sure there is a simple explanation (more assistants I didn't see?)... I just don't know what it is. In goalball, I was getting mad at the Americans because they kept throwing the ball right at the defenders. Then I had to remind myself... oh yeah, blind.
