Thoreau and Muir talked about it. I really like to walk throught the woods and ponder everything, especially forests and their understory. Several people have suggested trying through hiking the PCT. "It would take about 6 years" is my standard reply.
The PCT is a half hour from my house. In July the through hikers dominate day hikers by a lot. I talk with them when they take breaks. They come from all over the US and some from other countries. Half of them have no idea what kind of forest they are walking through. Their focus is mileage and where the next bar and foil pouch are coming from and the next resupply. No thanks.

I thought that sauntering was a French style of cooking. You learn something new every day.

We might as well toss in . . .
dilly-dally: "loiter, delay, trifle"

Towards the end of a long day I sometimes stagger and stumble.

dilly-dally: "loiter, delay, trifle" I like those two word idioms because most often they don't make any sense and I spend time working out using only one. Can you have turvy without topsy ? Fuddy without duddy ? Pitter with no patter ? Wishy but not washy ?

If you dilly long enough, it might be considered a dalliance...

Talk about thread drift. Did I miss it? What about:
"Thanks DR, amazing photos!"
