As cweston knows, I too am always happy to help "dispose" of extra food. Tip: For my birthday dessert in Black, we had the BP Mango Sticky Rice. Oh man.

I will be interested to hear how you like Heather's Choice Last night on a quick overnight I tried a single serving of Heather's African Peanut Stew. I liked it, and the serving was about right. Just a bit of heat, which I like (vs. too much). I backed it with a piece of Backcountry Bread from a local bakery. It's a dense fruit and nut bread -- great combo. With a big mug of mint tea, and watch the stars come out (at the base of Eccles Pass, cweston). A delightful night.

(at the base of Eccles Pass, cweston) That seems like it would be a really pleasant place to camp, on either side of the pass. I recall there were a lot of tarns on the Willow Creek side. I need to explore the comparatively "tame" southern part of the range more. When do those areas typically become accessible in a typical snow year? Maybe early in the season would be a good time for doing the southern portion of the GRT or some such.

That seems like it would be a really pleasant place to camp It's becoming a favorite. That's where I was visited last year by Johnny the Mountain Goat who occupied my camp for some time. I was hoping he would visit again last night, but he wasn't home. In the morning, I heard coyotes howling, which would be reason enough no wise goat would be anywhere near that basin. I had a memorable night there last year, because it offers a good sky view for the Perseids in early August. This year was better, though. I saw the shower's peak from another meadow to the south on the GRT. 30 fallers in 30 minutes! I haven't tried to get in there too early, so I don't really know. But I talked to a guy who went in with snowshoes on his pack in the Spring. I can find out more from him.
