Notice my 3 posts on pages 3, 4 and 5 had stale broken links to images so just fixed those paths.
The above is western roseroot aka rosy sedum, sedum rosea, atop a moss clump shot on July 22, 2016. During my 9-day Silver Divide backpack in the John Muir Wilderness, came across the above spectacular subject still in shadows where a snow melt stream had recently dried up and went about carefully setting up my 60mm making sure I could stack shots to capture the whole frame in sharp focus. 4000 by 6000 pixels 7 image focus stack blend with my Sony A6000 and Sigma 60mm DN lens. Enlarged vertical slice view:

The above are Coville's columbine aka alpine columbine, aquilegia pubescens, and hybrids of crimson columbine, aquilegia formosa shot on July 30, 2016. On a 9 day backpack up Pine Creek, this was against a small cliff at 11350 in Granite Park of the John Muir Wilderness. I've been working this spectacular species over decades and the above was the finest subject I'd ever seen so spent quite some time making sure the focus stacking result would be sharp front to back. 5900 by 4000 pixels 8 image focus stack blend with my Sony A6000 and Sigma 60mm DN lens. Enlarged vertical slice view.

Beyond that, you might want to look for a copy of Newcomb's Wildflowers for the Northeast. I bought mine simply because the artwork is so great. Just thought I'd let you know that because of you I've purchased a used of this book from Thrift Books. I got an email confirming it's been shipped.

These little beauties are tiny. About 1/2 the size of my pinky fingernail. I had to use the macro mode on my camera to get a decent shot of them. last month in the Superstitions. I'm not from the area so I have no idea what they are outside of being pretty.

I don't know what these are, I'll leave it up to the forum's botanists to clarify. :-) Nashville Conservation Area, Ontario

Not sure what they are either but those are some good shots! Hah, thanks! The top one was with my nifty-fifty and the bottom with an 18-200mm. I recently invested in a 60mm macro, so if I find anymore flowers I have just the lens for them. the bottom one looks like some sort of aster. Upon Googling that, it appears you're correct!

amaruq , agree the bottom photo is of an aster. Is the top one a woody plant, or does it just appear that way? The bloom looks a lot like chicory, and it kind of looks like a blurry chicory leaf in the background.

trinity I thought the Dane thing about chicory, but that flower is the first one on this thread. Very similar though.
