I didn't know Patagonia had stores. I have been to their outlet store in Freeport ME. I looked it up and around here they have stores in Manhattan and Westport CT. Both places with wealthy clothes buyers.

I've been in a few Patagonia stores but I didn't find them to have a better selection than REI or my local gear stores that carry Patagonia items, especially in backpacking/hiking specific items. I feel like the stores are geared more for casual shoppers looking for that "outdoors sporty" style.
I'll stipulate, though, that I almost always wait for a sale to buy their stuff. To that end, I usually start with the "web specials" section in the Patagonia online store.

Just outside Austin here…only Pattagucci store I shop is the one in Dillion! Even if they put on down Ruebens way, Dillion is still my choice.

The Dillon store use to offer some good deals via their weekly email specials in the past. I need to check and see if they still offer them via email. Regards, DR

Patagonia has a store in Santa Monica, a beach burb on the western beach of Los Angeles that seems to go with more of their “surf” wear but also other Patagonia sports too. There’s more general retail stores in well heeled communities like San Francisco, north of San Diego, and South Lake Tahoe (“Heavenly” ski themed mall). The latter I bet gets more “ski” merch in winter. There’s an outlet in nearby Reno but that may be for a number of reasons … more general population/visitors with more median income, etc.. attracting potential customers away from the casinos for a bit. Not sure if the new high tech crowd will cause it’s prices to raise? …. Patagonia has an outlet store in the middle of nowhere—-Dillon, Montana. Dillon is a small town with a very small state university. It has no other outlet stores or outlet malls along the interstate... Not sure why they chose Dillon, but I heard Yvon Chouinard like to fish near the area. Not sure if that’s true, but the area around Dillon has some great rivers for fishing. So, if you had the chance to pick a city/town where Patagonia should open up a new store, where would you choose? And why?… It’s probably the fishing and perhaps the outlet looking at the attracting last minute apparel/equipment shoppers? I’d say they should put a store in the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area. Considering Patagonia’s main distribution center (DC) is in Reno, and 90% of their products come out of their Reno DC, it makes sense to have an outlet store there. Regards, DR

Kootenai County voted 70% for 45 in 2020. I gotta believe Couer d'Alene has to be one of the last places almost any Patagonia employee would want to move to. Also guessing they already have multiple retailers there.
If they don't have several other retailers there already selling Patagonia I can see a store in Santa Fe but Burque would be a major stretch IMO.
Pittsburgh over Philly seems logical to me given demographics. Philly would still be a good location but DC/Alexandria and NYC have multiple locations.
I'm guessing Bend, OR is like Jackson here and already has plenty of places selling Patagonia.
If they don't have a lot of retailers in Durango, CO I can certainly see that.
With Rushmore, Custer State Park, etc., nearby it would be interesting to see how a store in Rapid City might do with what I would guess to be primarily out of state tourist business.

Do you know how many outdoor stores sell Patagonia in Portland? Beacoup. But they still have a store here. There are four REI stores alone here selling Patagonia, yet the Patagonia here is extremely busy. Philly has a population of just shy of 1.6 million while Pittsburgh’s population is a mere 300,000. A store would work out well there. In-lieu of CDA, put it thirty miles east in Spokane right near an I-90 exit. Several ski areas east of there. Interesting to see Nashville has a Patagonia store. I would not have guessed Nashville. Regards, DR

I would put the store atop Cerro Torre, so shoppers could good a real Patagonia experience when they go to try on new gear.

Philadelphia is less than two hours from Manhattan. It does not have a small fraction of the outdoor enthusiasm and opportunities the Pittsburgh does which is 6 hours from Manhattan. I'm guessing the company's demographers know something. If there is a better Philly Market than they've found perhaps a store in Bucks County might be a better fit for that area.
Lots of stores sell SOME Patagonia items. Finding a store like Skinny Skis that has Patagonia specific sales with extensive selection twice a year might not be so easy. When it comes to Portland obviously those demographers saw a better fit than they do with other metropoli.
Spokane is just over 4 hours from Seattle and although it is more moderate than Couer d'Alene it still voted Red albeit by a much slimmer margin. Most of our PNW visitors are from western WA and OR. We just don't see very many from the Eastern parts of those states at all. As far as I can tell the ski areas in the Spokane area are not major travel destinations.
Nashville has a lot of outdoor enthusiasts with TN and KY outdoor opportunities. The closest other store is in Atlanta, 5 hours away. Many folks in Ohio vacation closer to Pittsburgh. Considering the culture in those areas and Nashville being known as a popular international destination there distances from other areas I think Nashville and Pittsburgh are no brainers IMO.

Schweitzer is near Spokane; it’s 45 minutes north of CDA. Great ski area. Most people in eastern part of Washington go to Glacier over Yellowstone. It’s very close to the eastern part of the state and most prefer the hiking and backpacking in Glacier to Yellowstone. Regards, DR

When it comes to Glacier I'm guessing Calgary would be the best area market being only 3 hours away.
However great a ski area Schweitzer is I can't imagine it being very popular at all beyond the region itself. Having looked at Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho demographics I'm not sure where you're coming from man.
