I wanted to say thanks to all of the forum members who followed along on my Arizona Trail adventure. Your encouragement and comments really helped motivate me to keep doing sections. I would have never hiked most of the areas the trail traverses. It was an project I never dreamed of actually doing. But, once I got started, working my way north, it felt like it would be a fun thing to do. Lots of blood, sweat, tears and toils later, I can say it was worth every step. Coincidently, I started the Trail the same year I joined these Forums. So many members have come and gone. And all have shared their life, thoughts and experiences as only this group of individuals can. We are here and held together by the love of the outdoors, the desire to discover it step by step and the willingness to share it all.

Congratulations on finishing it off despite some big challenges toward the end. I'm glad you got to do some of those sections before fire at them up.

Nice report. I didn't read it until last night, but your report gives me a case of the "gotta go".
Congratulations on your accomplishment.

The impact of the Willow fire on the Mazatzals was my first introduction to major, long-term damage in AZ. That ponderosa forest around Sandy Saddle on the Barnhardt trail was a wonderful place one upon a time.

Willow fire on the Mazatzals It was the Sunflower Fire of 2012, south of Payson that closed the roads and trails for me.
